Newsletter - June 2020

Judy's Soapbox

Judy’s Soapbox

Let me start off with an apology for the long lapse since we've last published a Hollis Dems newsletter.  Like so many people these days, I find myself running the gamut of emotions: anger and compassion, despair and hope, fear, anxiety, and sometimes even joy.  I'm seeking answers, but I am unsure whether I even know the right questions.  How can I promote social justice in my community?  How do I educate myself to see and to seek out systemic racism, wherever and however deeply it is ingrained?  What does the new normal look like in the age of coronavirus?

As I wrestle with these questions, I think of a quote from the Ethics of the Fathers: “You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.”  Together, as a community, we will continue to do the work, in all its myriad forms... to learn, to listen, and to repair.

In solidarity and hope,
Judy Carr

Hollis Dems' First Virtual Meeting!

The health and safety of our membership is top priority, so since we shouldn't get together in person, we are going to hold our first virtual meeting!

Date: Tuesday, June 23rd
Time: 7:30pm to 8:00pm (keepin' it short and sweet!)
Location: Zoom online conference (click here to RSVP)

We'll hear from the coordinated campaign, and we'll introduce our state rep candidates. The 2020 campaign season is well under way, so let's talk about getting back to work to get Dems elected up and down the ballot!

Once you RSVP, you'll receive a confirmation email that includes a link you can to join our Zoom call.
